Hydrogen fuel cell developments in the US

Whilst the devastating coronavirus pandemic continues to negatively affect many industries, individuals and communities, it has arguably shone a light on the emerging hydrogen economy, as many gather behind a green recovery, with hydrogen and fuel cells playing a significant role in such an effort.

This was at least the impression that many US companies, associations and industry veterans gave off this year, as they kicked off what was described as the ‘decade of the fuel cell’ by Mark Kirby, President and CEO of the Canadian Hydrogen and Fuel Cell Association (CHFCA), as he opened f-cell+HFC 2020 in September.

2020 marked a year of development and milestone moments for the US hydrogen economy and now, as a new year is on the horizon, H2 View reflects on some of those standout moments for the US hydrogen and fuel cell market from the whirlwind year, and how such efforts will positively impact the country moving forward.

Station developments
The year saw a tremendous commitment to the development of hydrogen refuelling infrastructure across the country. Once again pioneering this green transition was California, with station developments, new legislation and ambitious commitments.
