New Australian pilot targets low-cost direct solar-to-hydrogen production

A green hydrogen production pilot using direct solar water splitting technology has got underway at the University of Adelaide.

Fortescue, Sparc Technologies, and University of Adelaide joint venture, Spar Hydrogen, launched its photocatalytic water splitting (PWS) testbed, designed to produce green hydrogen through a non-electrolytic process.

The PWS process directs solar energy into a photocatalyst material, which reacts to split water into hydrogen and oxygen.
