16 German regions will receive support for hydrogen-based projects after being named HyLand competition winners in Berlin yesterday.
The competition identified three ‘HyPerformers’ that will receive €20m of investment grants to implement existing regional concepts with hydrogen and fuel cells, and 13 ‘HyExperts’ that will receive €300,000 to create and calculate project ideas for hydrogen concepts.
Winners in the HyExpert category were:
- City of Brake
- District of Emsland
- City of Essen
- City of Franfurt am Main
- City of Fulda
- City of Ingolstadt
- Lippe District
- District of Oberallgäu
- District of Osterholz
- District of Recklinghausen
- State of Saarland
- City of Ulm

The HyStarter winners will also receive support in training local stakeholders and in developing initial concepts for hydrogen and fuel cells on the basis of renewable energy in the areas of transportation, heating, power and the storage of energy.
