2,500km Nordic-Baltic hydrogen pipeline developers ink €6.8m grant agreement


Developers of the 2,500km Nordic-Baltic Hydrogen Corridor (NBHC) have signed an EU grant agreement worth up to €6.8m ($8m) to support feasibility works as they eye commissioning in the early 2030s.

The co-financing from the Connecting Europe Facility (CEF) will support Gasgrid Finland, Estonia’s Elering, Latvia’s Conexus, Lithuania’s Amber Grid, Poland’s Gaz-system, and Germany’s Ontras in developing a case for the hydrogen pipeline.

The partners will look to carry out technical, economic, regulatory, and environmental feasibility studies into the network that looks to connect the six countries. It is expected to be concluded in Q1 2027, with commissioning anticipated in the “early 2030s.”
