45V termination “will definitely have a chilling effect on hydrogen”


The proposed termination of the 45V tax credit “will definitely have a chilling effect on hydrogen”, Mona Dajani Partner at Baker Botts, has told The 1895 Podcast.

Dajani, who is also the Global Co-Chair of Energy Infrastructure & Hydrogen, and Co-Chair of the Energy Sector, went on to say “this is definitely signalling that the US… is not in favour of hydrogen.”

This comes in the wake of the news that House Republicans were seeking to axe the US’ clean hydrogen production tax credit, and latterly that the House Ways and Means Committee voted in favour of the bill.

Throughout the episode, titled ‘What the 45V repeal means for hydrogen and clean energy’, the Ambassador for the Department of Energy- C3E, discussed the implications of legislative changes for hydrogen projects in the US, the shift this could create from green to blue hydrogen, the global investment landscape, and the ongoing uncertainty surrounding hydrogen policy.
