Adelan: UK’s oldest fuel cell company turns 25; Calls for more to be done to support women in the hydrogen and fuel cell industry

Adelan is a company born on innovation that today has completely changed the energy market. And Dr. Michaela Kendall, CEO of the UK’s oldest fuel cell company, and only female-led fuel cell company in the world, has been there since the start.

Speaking to H2 View about the company’s formation in the 1990s, she said, “I was working on a graduate thesis whilst my father was working with the Imperial Chemical Industries (ICI) on solid oxide fuel cells (SOFC). I asked him to produce some designs for my thesis project.

“That’s when we got started with the first publication on microtubular SOFC in the 1990s.”
