AGIG begins Gladstone green hydrogen blending amid watchdog challenge


A Queensland city has started receiving up to 10% green hydrogen blends in its natural gas grid – but the company behind the initiative now faces greenwashing allegations from Australia’s competition watchdog.

Australia Gas Infrastructure Group (AGIG) said its Hydrogen Park Gladstone had been operating for around six months, supplying the green molecules into Gladstone’s entire city gas network.

Over one tonne of hydrogen, produced by a 175kW electrolyser, has been injected into the grid so far, meaning all 700 of the network’s customers are being supplied with a lower-emission gas.
