Airbus and MTU partner to develop hydrogen fuel cell for aviation


Airbus and MTU Aero Engines have agreed to explore the development of hydrogen fuel cells for aircraft solutions.

Under a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU), the two companies have outlined a three-step roadmap for the development of a hydrogen-powered fuel cell engine suitable for the commercial aviation market.

They plan to advance the technological foundations through joint research, such as Clean Aviation, aligning research and technology roadmaps for hydrogen technologies, and ultimately develop a hydrogen fuel-cell engine for commercial aircraft.
