Amp Energy announces 5GW green hydrogen plans for South Australian port

Canadian-founded Amp Energy is set to develop ‘green hydrogen at scale’ at a South Australian port with mining firm Iron Road Ltd.

Under an agreement, revealed today (April 12), Amp will develop 5GW of green hydrogen production capacity on the Cape Hardy Port Precinct over the next 10 years, which it believes will deliver five million tonnes of green ammonia per year.

The project comes as part of the company’s wider plans to develop 20GW of electrolyser capacity across three precincts, amounting to 19 million tonnes of annual green ammonia production.
