Andalusia grants strategic status to HyGreen’s alkaline electrolyser factory


The Andalusian regional government has granted strategic investment status to Chinese firm HyGreen Energy’s planned 5GW alkaline electrolyser factory located near Málaga, Spain.

The facility, first announced last year, has been granted preferential permitting treatment under a regional law, valid until the end of 2027, effectively fast-tracking it through the local approval process.

According to the regional cabinet, the status was granted following multiple reviews by all necessary departments, to promote job creation, investment and industrial development in Andalusia.
