ArcelorMittal to invest €1.7bn in France and introduce hydrogen technologies to Dunkirk steel plant

ArcelorMittal will continue its decarbonisation programme in steel manufacturing through the utilisation of hydrogen in Dunkirk as part of a €1.7bn ($1.97bn) investment in France, the company revealed today (Feb 4).

With this investment ArcelorMittal will build a 2.5 million tonne reduction of iron (DRI) unit that will transform iron ore using hydrogen instead of coal.
