Atome launches renewable power arm to support hydrogen fertiliser projects


Atome will develop a 400MW solar and battery plant near its green hydrogen-based fertiliser plant in Villeta, Paraguay, to support the company’s current and future renewable energy needs.

The plant will be built under its new renewable energy division, Atome Power – a new business designed to build utility-scale solar power and infrastructure projects, which could open up a new, independent income stream.

The new division can act as a safety net for Atome by selling electricity from a solar plant under long-term contracts to bring in steady and predictable cash, even if the hydrogen-based fertiliser side of the business has challenges.
