Ballard appoints Verdagy’s Marty Neese as CEO amid restructuring push


Canadian fuel cell maker Ballard Power Systems has named Marty Neese, CEO of green hydrogen firm Verdagy, as successor to outgoing President and CEO Randy MacEwen.

The decision has come during a period of financial and industry challenges for the fuel cell OEM. Last month, Ballard announced additional cost-cutting measures, building on earlier actions that reduced total operating expenses by 31%.

MacEwen will exit the company on July 7, following more than a decade working for Ballard. The former CEO will continue to serve in his former role until Nesse’s start date and will be available in an advisory capacity until September 30, 2025.
