BMVI funds hydrogen-powered waste collectors and road sweepers

The Federal Ministry of Transport and Digital Infrastructure (BMVI) is funding the purchase of hydrogen-powered waste collection vehicles and road sweepers.

Depending on the size of the company, the funding rates range between 40-60% of the extra investment costs.

For operators performing state duties through the public sector however, a rate of 90% is permitted.

Equally eligible are hydrogen-specific adaptations of the maintenance infrastructure as well as the retrofitting of existing hydrogen refuelling stations for the refuelling of yet-to-be-procured municipal vehicles.
