BMW trials i Hydrogen NEXT on European roads

The BMW Group is now trialing its i Hydrogen NEXT on European roads.

A pure electric vehicle that uses hydrogen as fuel by converting it into electricity into a fuel cell, the i Hydrogen NEXT prototype trials pave the way for BMW to present a small-series model with sustainable drive technology, developed on the basis of the BMW X5, in late 2022.

Commenting on the development, Frank Weber, Member of the Board of Management of BMW, responsible for Development, said, “Hydrogen fuel cell technology can be an attractive option for sustainable drive trains – especially in larger vehicle classes.
