BP shelves blue hydrogen plans at Whiting refinery linked to MachH2


Oil and gas major BP has reportedly shelved plans to produce blue hydrogen at its Whiting refinery in Indiana, the US, due to economic uncertainty.

H2 View understands that BP has paused the initiative after struggling to identify a suitable site for the associated carbon storage.

BP remains committed to its operations in north west Indiana. The Whiting refinery, which is around 17 miles from Chicago, is the energy firm’s largest refinery in the world, and a critical source of its transportation fuels.
