Cadiz expands Mojave Desert hydrogen plans with Hoku Energy agreement


Cadiz Inc. has signed a second preliminary agreement to develop a hydrogen and clean energy hub in California with Hoku Energy.

The non-binding memorandum of understanding (MOU) follows a 2024 lease with RIC Energy and signals Cadiz’s intent to establish a major hydrogen and renewables hub at its Mojave Desert site.

While plans remain in the explanatory phase, Cadiz and Hoku have signed a three-year exclusive development option to develop the project on more than 10,000 acres at Cadiz Ranch. Hoku’s role will pay nominal option fees and secure permitting, feasibility studies, and project financing.
