Centrica CEO calls for joint planning on hydrogen and CCS


The UK and Europe should carry out joint planning on hydrogen and carbon capture to accelerate decarbonisation and infrastructure on both sides of the English Channel, according to Centrica CEO Chris O’Shea.

Writing on LinkedIn, he said the recent blackout in Spain and Portugal was a stark reminder that no country is energy independent.

“We are all connected, and those connections matter,” he writes.

“The UK and EU are physically intertwined through interconnectors – nine for electricity and three for gas – that deliver power and resilience both ways. They’re not symbolic. They’re structural.”
