Ceres Power starts hydrogen production at Shell’s Bangalore site


Ceres Power has begun producing hydrogen at Shell’s technology centre in Bangalore, India, aiming to demonstrate enhanced efficiencies through its solid oxide electrolyser (SOEC) technology.

In collaboration since 2022, Ceres and Shell have been working to deploy a 1MW electrolyser with the potential to produce hydrogen at 600kg per day at full capacity, with an electrolyser module efficiency of 37kWh/kg of hydrogen.

With the start of the project’s operational phase, the two companies will begin to collect the data and learnings required to develop a commercially competitive and scalable solution for industrial processes.
