The German state of Baden-Wuerttemberg has announced €300,000 of funding for Furtwangen University and the Center for Solar Energy and Hydrogen Research to construct a modular fuel cell bench system as part of a research project.
For the project, titled Modular Fuel Cell System Test Bench for the H2 Region Schwarzwald-Baar-Heuberg, companies will construct a modular fuel cell system test bench and research development patterns in a fully functional environment under realistic conditions.
“We want to support Baden-Württemberg’s system component manufacturers in developing marketable products for the field of fuel cell technology and successfully positioning themselves in international competition,” said Dr. Nicole Hoffmeister-Kraut, Minister for Economic Affairs.
“Automotive suppliers in Baden-Württemberg can also benefit massively from the increasing demand for hydrogen and fuel cell technologies. Numerous suppliers are still dependent on the combustion engine.”
“In order to offer companies and employees a future perspective, structures must be created in order to survive in the competition in the field of alternative drives.”
“The companies are faced with the major challenge of using existing technologies and developing them further, but at the same time dealing with new technologies.”
