EUGINE, EUTurbines unveil ‘H2-Ready’ initiative to support hydrogen use within gas power plants

EUGINE and EUTurbines have publicly presented a new initiative that supports converting gas power plants for the use of hydrogen to accelerate the adoption of zero-emission power.

In revealing the ‘H2-Ready’ initiative, the project will support investors and policymakers in identifying future-proof gas power plants to run on hydrogen.

Within this unveiling, the groups have stated that hydrogen power plants could be a perfect complement to wind and solar power to ensure that reliable and sustainable energy is available all year round.

Tatiana Márquez Uriarte, Member of the Cabinet of EU Commissioner for Energy, said, “It is very important for the energy industry not to be locked into stranded investments and have the technology that is already or can, with very small interventions, be ready for working with new types of gases. This is something that we really appreciate.”
