First hydrogen station for Port of Amsterdam

The Port of Amsterdam has announced plans for its first hydrogen station which will be located on Australiëhavenweg road, located in the business area of Westpoort.

Holthausen Energy Points (HEP) will build the new station which will operate 24 hours a day, seven days a week, refuelling both hydrogen-powered vehicles and hydrogen cylinders.

“The hydrogen station will help the city and the port achieve their sustainability targets. We want the municipal fleet to be emission free by 2030,” said Marieke van Doorninck, Amsterdam Alderwoman for Air Quality and Sustainability.

On top of the new station, the municipality also plans to install hydrogen fuel cell engines in its refuse vehicles, the first of which will be deployed next year.
