First UK-EU Summit opens door to cross-border hydrogen trade


The first UK-EU Summit today laid out an ambitious platform for collaboration and growth – including the prospect of accelerating cross-border trade in hydrogen and other new energy technologies.

In a joint conference, UK Prime Minister Keir Starmer and European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen primarily focused on  measures to bolster security and defence.

But energy security remains a key component too. One of the most eye-catching proposals involves exploring the UK’s participation in the EU’s electricity market.
