Researchers at the Fraunhofer Institute for Machine Tools and Forming Technology have revealed development of a virtual technology toolkit for bipolar plate production for fuel cells.
The toolkit is expected to help users make the best production decisions when manufacturing fuel cells.
Before fuel cells are capable of being mass produced, the costs of manufacturing it must come down in addition to being made easier to create.
In light of this, there is potential for cost reduction by developing bipolar plates that are a central element of fuel cells and control the supply of hydrogen and air as well as the extraction of steam and energy.
