Fraunhofer researching technologies for at-home hydrogen production

Fraunhofer IAP, a German research facility, is currently developing key technologies with its partners to allow future private customers to produce hydrogen on their home properties.

The two key technology projects include research into the development of small, efficient rotors to produce the hydrogen from a small wind turbine with safe storage tanks to contain the hydrogen.

The at-home hydrogen system is expected to drive a fuel cell in the house that can help produce heat and electricity at the same time, this will allow owners of hydrogen cars to fill up their vehicles directly from their homes.
