German demand for hydrogen and green gases expected to strongly increase by 2032, report says

German transmission system operators (TSOs) have revealed that a strong increase in demand for hydrogen and green gases is expected to rise by 2032.

This is detailed in the Scenario Framework for the Gas Network Development Plan (NDP) 2022-2032 in which German transmission system operators (TSOs) have stressed the importance of integrating hydrogen, biomethane and synthetic methane into the gas infrastructure.

The document outlines the development of gas and hydrogen demand until 2032 while also providing an outlook until 2050.

Gaseous energy sources make a significant contribution to decarbonisation with modelling variants based on a demand orientated development of gas consumption and transmission as required for stable and reliable energy supplies.
