German Government grants Hypion €4.9m of funding for hydrogen refuelling station

Operating company Hypion has received a €4.9m ($4.9m) grant from the German Government for the procurement of a commercial vehicle hydrogen refuelling station with integrated hydrogen production in Neumünster.

H2 View understands the station is expected to offer up to 2,000kg of hydrogen per day, and is intended to serve as a blueprint for other locations across Germany and wider Europe, with hopes of allowing economic viability for hydrogen refuelling services.

According to Dr. Stefan Rehm, Project Manager at Hypion, the H2-HubNMS will see hydrogen production take place on site. Rehm, said, “The funding commitment underlined that the concept presented a convincing solution, including the production of green hydrogen, distribution at an efficient filling station infrastructure, which can serve 40-tonne semitrailer trucks.”
