Global alliance calls for urgent hydrogen mobility push in Europe


A new coalition has emerged to bolster hydrogen mobility in Europe amid ongoing implementation challenges.

The Global Hydrogen Mobility Alliance (GHMA), comprising technology firms, vehicle OEMs, and industrial gas and chemical companies, is calling for the acceleration of hydrogen mobility development to support domestic European industry and sustainability.

Members include Honda, Toyota, Daimler Truck, Iveco, BMW, Linde, Air Liquide, Iwatani, Honeywell, Ballard, Cummins, and more. They’re urging policymakers to quickly implement existing policies that could close the cost gap and make “commercially driven hydrogen mobility a reality.”

While acknowledging key targets under Europe’s Alternative Fuel Infrastructure Regulation (AFIR) and the Renewable Energy Directive (RED III), it said gaps in funding access, permitting, and harmonised bloc-wide roll-out remain.
