Green Hydrogen Catapult coalition aiming to scale up production and drive down costs

The world’s biggest green hydrogen developers are joining forces in a new coalition which aims to scale up hydrogen production and drive down the cost.

Comprised of ACWA Power, CWP Renewables, Envision, Iberdrola, Ørsted, Snam, and Yara, the Green Hydrogen Catapult wants to accelerate the scale and production of green hydrogen 50-fold in the next six years.

Green Hydrogen Catapult said it will target the deployment of 25GW through 2026 of renewables-based hydrogen production, with a view to halve the current cost of hydrogen to below $2 per kilogram.

Recent analysis by the Hydrogen Council suggests $2 per kilogram represents a potential tipping point that will make green hydrogen and its derivative fuels cost competitive.
