Half of US car sales to be zero emission by 2030, says President Biden

Uptake of hydrogen-powered vehicles is set to skyrocket in the US following the news that President Joe Biden wants 50% of all vehicle sales in the nation to be zero emission by 2030.

It was announced on Thursday (August 5) that an executive order will be signed to set the ambitious new target, which will also kick off development of long-term fuel efficiency and emissions standards.

Similar plans are already underway in California, with the state targeting for all car sales to be zero emission by 2035.

Wider goals for the US as a whole are all part of the President’s Build Back Better Agenda and the Bipartisan Infrastructure Deal that plan to invest in infrastructure, manufacturing and incentives the country needs to grow its economy.
