HIF Global partners with Johnson Matthey and Honeywell to develop second SAF facility

HIF Global, Johnson Matthey (JM) and Honeywell have agreed to develop a sustainable aviation fuel (SAF) facility in the US, produced via combining recycled carbon dioxide (CO2) with hydrogen.

The facility is expected to produce approximately 13,994 tonnes (11,000 barrels) of eSAF per day, which HIF Global believes could decarbonise 12 billion air passengers per year.

JM’s technology will use green hydrogen and recycled CO2 to produce eMethanol at the HIF Haru Oni Demonstration Plant in Chile, which can be upgraded into eFuels such as eSAF.
