HS Orka, Hydrogen Ventures spearheading the hydrogen revolution in Iceland

Iceland has set an ambitious target to become carbon neutral by 2040 and, to help achieve this goal, hydrogen has been recognised as a key resource in realising this goal.

To support the nation’s energy transition, HS Orka and Hydrogen Ventures have today (August 5) revealed new a plan to develop a production plant for green methanol using green hydrogen for the marine sector.

This project will comprise of two phases, with an initial 30MW input, followed by a second phase of a much larger scale for the production of green hydrogen.

The total cost of Phase One is anticipated to be €100m ($118m).
