HVS showcases 5.5 tonne demonstrator vehicle

Glasgow, Scotland-based hydrogen-powered vehicle OEM, Hydrogen Vehicle Systems (HVS) has today (November 10) showcased its hydrogen powertrain in the form of a 5.5 tonne demonstrator.

The company has said the technology will be used at the centre of its planned 40 tonne heavy goods vehicle (HGV) which it says will be the ‘first’ indigenous UK designed and developed hydrogen-electric HGV market.

H2 View understands HVS’ powertrain employs a fuel cell system and energy storage system to deploy electricity to its vehicle’s electric motors, controlled by its own advanced control system, dubbed SEMAS, which it says will deliver ‘class-leading’ fuel efficiency and durability.
