Hydrogen buses arrive in Cologne

Brand-new hydrogen buses have started to arrive in Cologne, Germany.

The news was confirmed on Friday (12th March), when coach and bus manufacturer Solaris Bus & Coach said it had delivered the first of a total of 15 hydrogen-powered vehicles.

Ordered last year (2020) by German public transport operator Regionalverkehr Köln GmbH (RVK), the Solaris Urbino 12 hydrogen bus fleet will be deployed in three locations where RVK operates.

Five of the buses will be put into service in the Rheinisch-Bergisches Kreis district, another five will go to the Rhein-Sieg district on the left bank of the Rhine, and the remaining will run in the city of Hürth.
