Hydrogen investment climbs as global energy spending hits $3.3 trillion: IEA


Global energy investment is projected to hit a record $3.3 trillion in 2025, with low-emission fuels such as hydrogen playing a prominent role, according to new research from the International Energy Agency (IEA).

Investment in clean technologies – renewables, nuclear, grids, storage, low-emission fuels, efficiency and electrification – is the main driver, and will account for $2.2 trillion. Solar PV continues to attract more capital than any other technology.

Low-emissions fuels are set to reach a new high, surpassing $30bn, but the sector still represents a small share of total energy funding and remains highly dependent on supportive policies and regulation.
