Hydrogen leakage study underway at industry giant sites in Europe, North America


Industrial majors are working with Environmental Defense Fund (EDF) to measure hydrogen emissions from existing operating assets across North America and Europe.

Air Products, Air Liquide, Shell, and TotalEnergies are working with the NGO along with Dutch and US universities to quantify hydrogen emissions from production plants, pipelines, compressors, liquefaction facilities, refineries, fuelling stations and vehicles.

The field measurements began in March and are expected to continue through early 2026.
