Hydrogen-powered chase boat developed by Emirates Team New Zealand

Emirates Team New Zealand revealed on Thursday (March 31) it has launched a prototype hydrogen-powered foiling chase boat in Auckland.

Dubbed Chase Zero it is recognised as the “first” boat to be launched in this year’s America Cup cycle with the company hoping this will cause a domino effect across the competition to introduce more hydrogen solutions.

Chase Zero will cruise at 35 knots with a top speed over 50 knots and is the culmination of the collective input of the team and several vital partners with Toyota facilitating the integration of hydrogen fuel cells.
