Hydrogen production begins at Constellation’s US nuclear-powered facility

US-based Constellation has started hydrogen production at its 1MW demonstration scale, nuclear-powered facility. 

The site at Constellation’s Nine Mile Point Nuclear Plant in Oswego, New York, received approval last year from the US Department of Energy (DOE) for the installation of an electrolyser system along with a $5.8m award.  

The clean hydrogen generation system will use 1.25MW of zero-carbon energy per hour, therefore producing 560kg of clean hydrogen per day.
