UK utilities services provider Wales & West Utilities has revealed plans to invest over £80m during 2020 in maintaining and upgrading its gas infrastructure, including adaptations that will make it hydrogen-ready.
The company upgraded 406km of gas pipes across its area in 2019, at an investment of just over £81m, and is committed to a further £80m of investment this year.
This, the company said, will ‘keep the gas flowing to heat homes and power businesses for generations to come’.
Rob Long, Wales & West Utilities Director of Operations, said, “While most of the gas network is underground and out of sight, it plays a central role in the daily lives of people across Wales and the south west of England.”
