Hydrogen Taskforce report in detail: Five policies to enable hydrogen to scale up in the UK

The Hydrogen Taskforce, launched yesterday, brings together leading companies pushing hydrogen into the mainstream in the UK to offer a shared view of the opportunity and a collective position on the next steps that must be taken to ensure that the UK capitalises on this opportunity.

Comprising Arup, Arval, Baxi, BNP Paribas, BOC, BP, Cadent, DBD, ITM Power, Shell and Storengy, the Taskforce yesterday marked it launch with the publication of a report on The Role of Hydrogen in Delivering Net Zero, which outlines a series of policy recommendations for industry and government to work towards over the next five years.

The cross-industry coalition proposes that industry and government come together to develop a cross-departmental UK Hydrogen Strategy to enable hydrogen to scale and be deployed on a commercial basis moving forwards.

According to the report, the Prime Minister has recognised a need for cross departmental working on climate issues through the formation of the Cabinet Committee on Climate Change.
