Hydrogen trains set for India’s 89km Sonipat-Jind northern railway

Hydrogen trains are set to become a staple of the Indian railway network with the invitation for bids for a hydrogen fuel cell-based train for its northern railway.

In an aim to move towards greener solutions, the Indian Railways Organisation of Alternative Fuels (IROAF) is inviting bids for a hydrogen train that will be used in the 89km Sonipat-Jind section of the Northern Railway.
