HyOrc and Acetech plan hydrogen-based green methanol plant in Scunthorpe

HyOrc Corporation and Acetech Metals Limited have agreed to explore the development of a hydrogen-based green methanol facility in Scunthorpe, the UK.

Under a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU), the parties plan to deploy a 35 tonnes per day Municipal Waste: Refuse-Derived Fuel (RDF) gasification plant combined with a methanol synthesis unit.

The site could scale up to a 150 tonne per day integrated facility converting RDF into syngas and subsequently into green methanol and clean electricity. Once fully operational, the HyOrc-Acetech initiative is expected to produce 12,000 tonnes of methanol annually over a projected 25-year plant life.
