IMI: 93% of public transport leaders say grid can’t support hydrogen and battery transition

Specialist engineering company IMI has found that 93% of 300 public transport leaders across the UK, Germany and Italy believe existing grid infrastructure is insufficient to support the transition to battery electric and hydrogen-powered fleets.

Despite IMI’s earlier finding that 83% of respondents believe public transport decarbonisation is feasible without hydrogen, updated insights reveal growing momentum behind hydrogen adoption.

21% have already purchased hydrogen vehicles, 61% plan to invest within the next two years, and nearly 75% expect to expand their hydrogen fleets over the next decade.
