India can leverage on renewables, ammonia and cost competitiveness to fast track hydrogen

In the final session of today’s Snap Summit, focused on hydrogen leadership in India, two industry leaders considered the crucial question of how hydrogen can be fast-tracked in the country.

It promises to be a frenzy of activity in India in the next three years if its target of producing five million tonnes of green hydrogen by 2025 is to be reached.

Stefano Innocenzi, Senior Vice President of New Energy Business at Siemens Energy, believes India has a chance of achieving its goal as it has several key elements in its favour; it is a major force in renewable energy and particularly solar; it has a strong refinery capacity; and experience in ammonia manufacturing.
