India investigates hydrogen fuel cell technologies for off-grid power; SFC expands into the Indian market

India is looking into hydrogen fuel cells as a low-emission, off-grid power supply for homeland security, civil protection, defence and a range of additional applications.

SFC Energy is behind the green move, having today (September 7) inked a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Bharat Electronics and FC TecNrgy for energy generation solutions.

At present, the country widely uses diesel generators for its power needs, however, due to various health risks and environmental factors, it now wants to decarbonise as it aims to slash its emissions – and it sees fuel cells as a great fit here.

Working to deliver on this, SFC Energy wants to both offer its products to the Indian market and create a centre of excellence that is able to offer additional solutions to serve the industry by merging with its new partners.
