Inpex begins Japanese blue hydrogen plant commissioning ahead of enhanced gas recovery trial


Japanese oil and gas firm Inpex Corporation has started commissioning work on its blue hydrogen and ammonia production demonstration project in Kawasaki City.

The subsidy-backed project, which is expected to produce 700 tonnes of blue hydrogen per year, will reform natural gas into hydrogen with CO2 emissions captured.

The initial commissioning efforts will focus on the equipment that uses natural gas, before moving on to the hydrogen and ammonia production facilities.
