Intelligent Energy (IE) is a UK fuel cell engineering company focused on the development and manufacturing of fuel cell products, for customers in the automotive, motive, stationary, MHE and UAV sectors. Fuel cells are used in multiple applications, where clean, lightweight, high efficiency and cost-effective power is required.
In the past few years, IE has focused on developing compact, competitively priced products across power ranges from 650W to 120kW. In recent weeks, the company has also shared its plans for the aerospace sector with its IE-FlightTM range of stacks and scalable power modules providing outputs of 140kW and 250kW. The company’s fuel cells are smaller, lighter, and less complex, ultimately providing a roadmap to the lowest cost fuel cells.
David Woolhouse, CEO at Intelligent Energy, said, “We have been working hard over the past two years to ensure we have the right product range in place and to bring on board the right programmes and partners. 2021 is going to be an exciting time for us with the programme of work we have lined up. We are working on automotive fuel cells via a programme with one of the largest Chinese automotive OEMs, Changan, and UK bus manufacturer Alexander Dennis. We announced last month our involvement in developing a lightweight fuel cell system with GKN Aerospace for a sub-regional aircraft. It will see us develop the next generation of fuel cell technology and importantly will support the growth of fuel manufacturing in the UK.”
While its base is in UK, IE has customers all over the world has announced six distribution agreements with strategically important companies in key target regions covering the US, Japan, China, South Korea and the Netherlands.
