Japan to introduce hydrogen fuel subsidy for commercial vehicles


The Japanese government is set to introduce a subsidy covering hydrogen fuel costs for fuel cell trucks and buses, offering support at a rate of ¥700 ($4.82) per kilogram, according to reports.

Nikkei Asia reported that the Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry (METI) plans to provide hydrogen refuelling incentives for commercial vehicles in six administrative regions across Japan.

The incentive has been introduced to help close the price gap between hydrogen and diesel fuel, with the government support being applied in hydrogen refuelling stations located in five priority areas.
