Japanese manufacturers to cooperate on hydrogen fuelled marine engines

A group of Japanese engine manufacturers have teamed up to develop hydrogen marine engines for large coastal and ocean-going ships by 2025.

This is seen as an effort to help Japan’s shipbuilders fast-track the development of hydrogen fuelled vessels for operations across the nation.

The firms involved include Kawaski Heavy Industries (KHI), Yanmar Power Technology and Japan Engine that have each agreed to form a consortium to develop hydrogen fuelled engines for large commercial vessels operating on domestic and international routes.
