Land Rover unveils hydrogen-powered Defender; commits to zero tailpipe emissions by 2036

Jaguar Land Rover is developing a hydrogen-powered Defender – and testing is set to begin in the UK later this year.

The vehicle manufacturer today (June 15) confirmed the news as part of its aim to achieve zero tailpipe emissions by 2036, and net zero carbon emissions across its supply chain, products and operations by 2039.

Running under Project Zeus, Jaguar Land Rover’s advanced engineering project, the development will allow engineers to understand how a hydrogen powertrain can be optimised to deliver performance and capability expected by drivers.
